Twenty Flights is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game where the players play a crew of a Bomber in a Post-Fantasy Dieselpunk War.

The ashcan version contains everything you need to run two introductory missions. As the project evolves the ashcan may be updated as I prep for a full release.

All of the art is Public Domain and proceeds from the Ashcan will go to the art budget for the full version.

Post-Fantasy Dieselpunk roleplaying

The world of Twenty Flights is a world with any and all of the trappings of traditional fantasy roleplaying games you could want. There are Humans, Elves, Orcs, Gnomes, Dwarves or any other fantasy race from anywhere you would like. However, this is a fantasy world, where where the “fantasy” is gone. A world that has adapted to the loss of magic and divine connection and replaced it the diesel power and ingenuity. Imagine a great war era world with elves, orcs, gnomes and dwarves getting a thousand year head start to build the biggest baddest war machines imaginable.

Combat to be survived, together.

The party is together in their bomber and each is an integral piece of survival. They are not choosing to go on a grand adventure, they are ordered to missions. These missions are not quests to gain fame and fortune in gallant combat. They are missions to be survived with grit, diesel and properly applied explosives. Bomber crews take heavy losses and there are not clerics standing by with healing spells from the gods. If the mission is successful the target is destroyed, if the crew is lucky they will come back alive.

Broken Gnomes in Bombers

While there might be some things to be said about it. No fantasy race is better equipped for bomber duty than the gnome. Bomber duty is however, extremely dangerous and is volunteer only.

There are many reasons to want to volunteer for bomber duty. These reasons might appear benign, but even the most innocent sounding reason for volunteering to wield the most devastating weapon in the world, belies something deep, dark and fundamentally broken about them.

Twenty Flights is as much about dealing with the reasons for joining bomber command as the missions themselves. As a result, there is little to gain personally for the player characters in combat, their self-actualization and character growth is more often than not, in the time spent between the missions.

The Journey home

Player characters have a limited term in bomber command. While all of the characters have their own goals, which are influenced by their animus, they all share the same ultimate goal. To survive their term in the war.

The most obvious way is to get to 20 completed missions to receive their discharge, this is not the only way however. They could be given a medical discharge or possibly discover other ways out of the war.
